The Beings of the Bible
The
Angels
Angels are the messengers and most physically present of the
spiritual beings in the eternal world of the Elohiym. The word used
in the Old Testament is Malak, pronounced mal-awk' and means to
dispatch as a deputy; a messenger; specifically, of God. They serve
the Elohiym, though obviously not in absolute perfection, as
conveyors of thought and action. They are not gods. They are
protectors of the Elohiym and mankind. They are not described as
having wings, halos, harps, or having the appearance of the orthodox
portrayal as commonly seen in paintings and other representations.
Angels can appear in flying vehicles, or on terra firma and
are often in some form of brilliant uniform. There are at least 2
ranks of angels with the archangels being superior in rank. Satan
was, of course, an angel, apparently of very high rank though in
earlier times he attempted to take over the throne of the Elohiym.
Angels appear almost 200 times in the Bible, so the entries in this
section deal with those references that relate to appearances in the
sky, vehicles, and close encounters.
The concept that man was made "a little lower than the
angels" as stated in Psalms 8:4 is based on a mistranslation.
The word angel is taken from the same word as Elohiym. Therefore,
this is properly rendered " a little lower than the Gods". This is
repeated in Hebrews 2:5 and in this case, 'angels' is properly
translated. However, a statement that shows the angels were not
given the high level of responsibility bestowed upon man prefaces
this. This puts the ranking of angels in limbo until the true
nature of man is clearly stated by Yhovah in Psalms:
♦
Psalms 82: 6, I have said, Ye are gods; and all of you are
children of the most High.
Jesus quotes himself in emphasizing this fact in John:
♦
John 10:34 Jesus answered them, "Is it not written in your
law, I said, Ye are gods?"
In Luke he speaks on the nature of man after his spiritual
change,
♦
Luke 20:36 Neither can they die any more: for they are equal
unto the angels; and are the children of God, being the children of
the resurrection."
♦
1 Corinthians 6:3 Know ye not that we shall judge angels? how
much more things that pertain to this life?"
It seems that the angels rank at least equal to man, but are
not the children of God and will be judged by men after a spiritual
change. This, of course, is up to the opinion of the reader. An
interesting perspective on this can be found in Hebrews, chapters 1
and 2.
Angels are never described with wings, halos, or harps.
They are not gods.
Devils
And Unclean, Evil Or Familiar Spirits
Devils in the Bible are today known
as demons, although the word 'demon' does not appear in Biblical
text. The one consistent characteristic trait is that they almost
always possess a human body with less than desirable physical and
mental consequences. These devils are the Nephilim, the spirits of
the giants that were progeny of the human / angelic union that
resulted in the Flood. The term fallen angels is not in the Bible
although it is recorded that Satan is fallen and it would be
presumed that it makes his cohorts fallen angels as well. The
question that this poses is whether or not the devils that possess
humans and animals are the beings known as Satan's angels or the
Nephilim of the flood?
For an understanding of the origin of the Nephilim see
The Flood
We have collected the verses in the dealing with these beings: Devils And Unclean,

Appendix Q
The Giants
The Bible speaks of giants as the
offspring of a plot by angels to inbreed with mankind. This first
implies that angels had a direct, ongoing relationship with humans
as is referred to in Genesis 6:3 when Yhovah says he will end this
close association. In Genesis, the flood is pronounced immediately
after the giants are mentioned, although not directly referred to as
a direct result of the phenomenon of the giants. The verses
following this brief mention of giants would seem to indicate that
the giants and the flood were seemingly unrelated and are dealt with
as such by the pulpit.
The early Catholic Church found it necessary to eliminate the
book written by Enoch. The Book of Enoch goes into great detail
about the plot by certain angels and that plot's direct relation to
the flood. What Enoch relates is a story of deceit, mutant beings
out of control, cannibalism, and a decision by Yhovah to end the
carnage perpetrated by these mutants which was leading to the
decimation of life on Earth. It also shows that though the
physical bodies of these mutants were destroyed, their eternal
spirits remained intact and are directly connected to the demons
encountered by Jesus.
Two Giant Races
It is important to notice that within the first mention of
giants in the Bible that this statement is made:
♦
Genesis 6:4 There were giants in the earth in those days; and
also after that.
The "also after that" is clearly represented as meaning "after
the Flood" as the giants appear in scriptural narration after that
event. They are described as very tall, up to 16 feet, having more
fingers and toes than humans, and associated with war. One is even
described as a king and entire regional areas are recognized as
their habitat. The word Nephilim is the plural Hebrew pronunciation
of the word from which giants and giant were taken and does not
appear in the Bible. The word Nephil comes from nphiyl, pronounced
nef-eel', a bully or tyrant.
Where the word 'Rephaim', 'Rapha' and, in some places, the
word 'dead' is used in the verses presented here, they are all taken
from the word rapha', pronounced raw-faw', meaning, in the sense of
invigorating; a giant, lax, (figuratively) a ghost (as dead; in
plural only): In the case of the word dead, it is generally accepted
that this is referring to the spirits of the dead giants destroyed
by the Flood. The Rephaim are believed to be a race of giants
separate from the Nephilim of Genesis 6:4. In two verses the
translators used the word 'Rephaim' where the word for the Nephilim
appears and these verses are noted.
There is much evidence in history
that clearly show giants have been with us far beyond ancient
times. Here are the verses in the Bible that describe giants:
♦
Genesis 6:1 And it came to pass, when men began to multiply on
the face of the earth, and daughters were born unto them, 2 That
the sons of God saw the daughters of men that they were fair; and
they took them wives of all which they chose. 3 And the LORD said,
My spirit shall not always strive with man, for that he also is
flesh: yet his days shall be an hundred and twenty years. 4 There
were giants in the earth in those days; and also after that, when
the sons of God came in unto the daughters of men, and they bare
children to them, the same became mighty men which were of old, men
of renown.
♦
Genesis 14:5 And in the fourteenth year came Chedorlaomer, and
the kings that were with him, and smote the Rephaims in Ashteroth
Karnaim, and the Zuzims in Ham, and the Emims in Shaveh Kiriathaim,
♦
Genesis 15:20 And the Hittites, and the Perizzites, and the
Rephaims,
♦
Numbers 13:33 And there we saw the giants, the sons of Anak,
which come of the giants: and we were in our own sight as
grasshoppers, and so we were in their sight.
♦
Deuteronomy 1:28 Whither shall we go up? our brethren have
discouraged our heart, saying, The people is greater and taller than
we; the cities are great and walled up to heaven; and moreover we
have seen the sons of the Anakims there
♦
Deuteronomy 2:10 The Emims dwelt therein in times past, a people
great, and many, and tall, as the Anakims; 11 Which also
were accounted giants, as the Anakims; but the Moabites called them
Emims.
♦
Deuteronomy 2:20 (That also was accounted a land of giants:
giants dwelt therein in old time; and the Ammonites call them
Zamzummims; 21 A people great, and many, and tall, as the Anakims;
but the LORD destroyed them before them; and they succeeded them,
and dwelt in their stead:
♦
Deuteronomy 3:11 For only Og king of Bashan remained of the
remnant of giants; behold his bedstead was a bedstead of iron; is it
not in Rabbath of the children of Ammon? nine cubits was the length
thereof, and four cubits the breadth of it, after the cubit of a
man. 12 And this land, which we possessed at that time, from Aroer,
which is by the river Arnon, and half mount Gilead, and the cities
thereof, gave I unto the Reubenites and to the Gadites. 13 And the
rest of Gilead, and all Bashan, being the kingdom of Og, gave I unto
the half tribe of Manasseh; all the region of Argob, with all Bashan,
which was called the land of giants.
This bed is 6' feet wide 14
feet long and King Og's height is estimated at least 12 feet.
♦
Deuteronomy 9:2 A people great and tall, the children of the
Anakims, whom thou knowest, and of whom thou hast heard say, Who can
stand before the children of Anak!
♦
Joshua 11:21 And at that time came Joshua, and cut off
the Anakims from the mountains, from Hebron, from Debir, from Anab,
and from all the mountains of Judah, and from all the mountains of
Israel: Joshua destroyed them utterly with their cities. 22 There
was none of the Anakims left in the land of the children of Israel:
only in Gaza, in Gath, and in Ashdod, there remained.
♦
Joshua 12:4 And the coast of Og king of Bashan, which was
of the remnant of the giants, that dwelt at Ashtaroth and at Edrei,
♦
Joshua 13:12 All the kingdom of Og in Bashan, which
reigned in Ashtaroth and in Edrei, who remained of the remnant of
the giants: for these did Moses smite, and cast them out.
♦
Joshua 14:12 Now therefore give me this mountain, whereof
the Lord spake in that day; for thou heardest in that day how the
Anakims were there, and that the cities were great and fenced: if so
be the Lord will be with me, then I shall be able to drive them out,
as the Lord said.
♦
Joshua 15:8 And the border went up by the valley of the
son of Hinnom unto the south side of the Jebusite; the same is
Jerusalem: and the border went up to the top of the mountain that
lieth before the valley of Hinnom westward, which is at the end of
the valley of the giants northward:
♦
Joshua 15:13 And unto Caleb the son of Jephunneh he gave
a part among the children of Judah, according to the commandment of
the Lord to Joshua, even the city of Arba the father of Anak, which
city is Hebron. 14 And Caleb drove thence the three sons of
Anak, Sheshai, and Ahiman, and Talmai, the children of Anak.
♦
Joshua 17:15 And Joshua answered them, If thou be a great
people, then get thee up to the wood country, and cut down for
thyself there in the land of the Perizzites and of the giants, if
mount Ephraim be too narrow for thee.
♦
Joshua 18:16 And the border came down to the end of the
mountain that lieth before the valley of the son of Hinnom, and
which is in the valley of the giants on the north, and descended to
the valley of Hinnom, to the side of Jebusi on the south, and
descended to Enrogel,
♦
Joshua 21:11 And they gave them the city of Arba the
father of Anak, which city is Hebron, in the hill country of Judah,
with the suburbs thereof round about it.
